There is no such thing as a « Röstigraben » in the WordPress world! This means that attendees from the German-speaking part of Switzerland – or anywhere else in Switzerland or the world – are welcome at the WordCamp Genève 2022!
To minimise expenses for attendees, we have made sure that a day trip to this event is possible! The WordCamp doors will open at 09:00, but the event’s official kick-off will only be at 09:45: this gives you time to arrive from Zurich, Bern or Neuchâtel without too much stress. To make things easier for those of you who will be travelling by train, we have put together a few timetable suggestions:
Departure from Zurich HB: 6:22, with stops in Olten (departure at 07:01), Bern (departure at 07:34), Fribourg (departure at 07:56) and Lausanne (departure at 08:43), arrival at Geneva main station (Cornavin) at 09:18.
For those coming from Neuchâtel: Departure at 07:34, arrival in Geneva at 08.47 (with stops in Yverdon and Morges).
From the Cornavin station, take the tram line 14 or 18 (direction Meyrin Gravière or CERN, location H on the plan) and get off after about 13 minutes at the Blandonnet stop (then walk 300m = 4 minutes).
It will be possible to return to Zurich the same evening, even if you stay (at least partially) for the meal that will follow the WordCamp on the same premises. You could, for instance, depart from Blandonnet at 20:52 and arrive in Zurich HB at 00:17 (via Neuchâtel, arrival at 22:24, then change in Olten). Later returns (21:10, 21:28, 22:20, 22:50) are even possible for those of you who don’t mind travelling back really late. There are plenty of evening connections for the return journey to Bern: departures from Blandonnet at 21:10, 21:28, 22:00 or 22:30 (journey lasting between 2h16 and 2h52 in total). Please check the timetable on the SBB website.
For those who plan to make a day trip to Geneva, consider purchasing supersaver tickets or even a saver day pass (CHF 49.- in 2nd class with ½ fare travelcard, available through the SBB website. Day passes are also available in most communes; their price ranges from about CHF 40.- to 45.-).
We look forward to welcoming you on 9 April in Geneva!
