C’est avec le c\u0153ur lourd que nous devons nous r\u00e9signer \u00e0 annuler le WordCamp Gen\u00e8ve du 21 mars prochain, ou tout au moins le reporter de 6 mois environ, sous r\u00e9serve d’une am\u00e9lioration globale de la situation \u00ab\u00a0coronavirus\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nous avons vu ce matin l’interdiction de la Conf\u00e9d\u00e9ration de tenir des \u00e9v\u00e9nements de plus de 1000 personnes, ce qui a d’ailleurs entra\u00een\u00e9 l’annulation du Salon de l’Auto \u00e0 Gen\u00e8ve, et nous pensons que de pareilles instructions pourraient \u00e9galement \u00eatre \u00e9tendues aux \u00e9v\u00e9nements plus petits, dont notre WordCamp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Etant donn\u00e9 que celui-ci r\u00e9unit des personnes venant de plusieurs lieux diff\u00e9rents, et des cas de coronavirus \u00e9tant apparus \u00e0 Gen\u00e8ve, il est donc de notre responsabilit\u00e9 de penser en premier lieu \u00e0 la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 de tous et toutes et donc de reporter l\u2019\u00e9v\u00e9nement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Si la situation mondiale de l’\u00e9pid\u00e9mie devait se r\u00e9soudre (virus endigu\u00e9 et\/ou vaccin\/traitement disponible), le WordCamp pourrait \u00eatre report\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019automne prochain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nous sommes en contact permanent avec WordCamp Community Support (WPCS, fondation \u00e0 la t\u00eate de tous les \u00e9v\u00e9nements), avec qui nous allons parler des diff\u00e9rentes \u00e9tapes \u00e0 suivre. Si vous \u00eates orateur.trice ou sponsor, merci de bien vouloir r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 cet email et de nous dire si vous pensez maintenir votre participation (en fonction de la nouvelle date). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Si vous avez eu des frais de r\u00e9servation de transport et\/ou d’h\u00e9bergement, la fondation pourra vous fournir une lettre officielle de report de date\/annulation que vous pourrez pr\u00e9senter \u00e0 vos fournisseurs de services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pour toutes les personnes ayant achet\u00e9 un billet standard \u00e0 CHF 25.- ou un billet microsponsor \u00e0 CHF 150.-, vous pouvez d\u00e9cider si vous le gardez pour l’\u00e9v\u00e9nement report\u00e9 ou si vous d\u00e9sirez \u00eatre rembours\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Update, 10 March: WordCamp Gen\u00e8ve New Date<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to cancel the WordCamp Gen\u00e8ve on March 21st, or at least postpone it for about 6 months, subject to an overall improvement of the \u00ab\u00a0coronavirus\u00a0\u00bb situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We saw this morning the Swiss government’s decision to ban large-scale events involving more than 1000 people. This has led to the cancellation of the Geneva Motor Show, and we have the feeling that such measures could also be extended to smaller events, including our WordCamp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Considering that this event gathers people coming from a multitude of different places and that cases of coronavirus have appeared in Geneva, it is our responsibility to think first about the safety of all. We, therefore, decided to postpone the WordCamp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Should the global epidemic situation be resolved (virus contained and\/or vaccine\/treatment available), the WordCamp could be postponed to next autumn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are in permanent contact with the WordCamp Community Support (WPCS, the foundation at the head of all events), with whom we will talk about the different steps to follow. If you are a speaker or sponsor, please reply to this email and let us know if you plan to maintain your participation (depending on the new date). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you have travel and\/or accommodation booking fees, the foundation can provide an official letter for you to present to those vendors, mentioning the event has been cancelled\/postponed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For all those who have purchased a standard ticket for CHF 25.00 or a microsponsor ticket for CHF 150.00, you can decide if you want to keep the ticket for the autumn event or if you want to be refunded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We thank you for your understanding and support. We sincerely hope that a postponement of the WordCamp Gen\u00e8ve 2020 will be possible. We wish everyone well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
